With September 25th, 2017 the list of companies with a license to test autonomous vehicles on public roads in California has grown to 42. The newest additions are the Udacity-spinoff Voyage and Cyngn.
Voyage was founded by the former curator for Udacity’s self-driving engineer nanodegree Oliver Cameron. The startup plans to develop a self-driving taxi fleet.
Cyngn, a startup that raised 115 million dollars in venture capital based in Palo Alto, has been known for trying to build a better Android OS than Google. After the company dropped that idea end of 2016 it now seems to focus in autonomous driving technology.
